Before adding your first entry you must setup locations. As you add new entries you may also setup new locations as required. A good workflow for this would be to add your new entry and if the desire locations are not in your dropdown lists you may save your partial entry in draft mode, go and setup the new locations as described below, and then return to your draft entry and update the locations and publish it when ready.

There are three separate sections for location entry: Funeral, Service, and Cemetery. These are all fairly similar with the main exception being for their intended purposes. Each section has it’s own respective list of locations. You may access these lists either as sub menu items under the “Funerals” menu in the left sidebar of the admin area OR once in the FTPro plugin admin area, they can also be accessed in the top header bar of the plugin.

To Add a New Location, first go to the appropriate section Funeral Locations, Service Locations, OR Cemetery Locations. Within that section you will find a button above the list labeled “Add New Location”, click on it. On the following screen, enter a descriptive name for the location as you wish it to appear not only in your admin lists, but on the front end as well. You must also enter a full address for the location as well so that people will be able to find the location.

Geo coordinates are required to properly display this location on maps. You only need to set them once and they will be used every time this location is used. You can do this simply by completing the full address above, then clicking on the “Get Coordinates” button. In the event that the coordinates address lookup is not accurate, you can use an external service and manually copy over the manual latitude and longitude values. Either way, make sure you update the location when done to save this information. Note that if this is your first time using the plugin, you must setup your Google Maps API keys in the settings for this to work properly.

You also have the option to enter some additional contact information for each location. This is not required, but if entered will be displayed to the user on the front end of the site under the corresponding entries.

To Edit a Location, first go to the appropriate section Funeral Locations, Service Locations, OR Cemetery Locations. Within that section you can locate the desired location on the list and click on it’s name. On the following screen you will see a summary of the location. There will also be an “EDIT” button, click on that and it will allow you to edit the location much like adding a new location. Make sure to click on the Update Location button at the bottom of the page when finished with your edits.

To Delete a Location, first go to the appropriate section Funeral Locations, Service Locations, OR Cemetery Locations. Within that section you can locate the desired location on the list and click on it’s name. On the following screen you will see a summary of the location. Since locations are relational to the entries that they are used by you may or may not be able to delete them. If the location has been used, then no delete button will be available and there will be a note at the bottom of the page that states that you are unable to delete this location and how many entries that it has been used by. If it has not been used, then you will have a delete button and will be able to remove it. Note that if you are not able to delete a location, you may still edit it; however, keep in mind any edits that you make will also affect any entries that have used this location in the past. A good example of this would be if you wanted to rename a location to be more descriptive (i.e. First Baptist Church > First Baptist Church of Uniontown) if you are adding another location with a similar name (i.e. First Baptist Church of Smallsville).

Note: If you have a location that serves more than one purpose, then it would need to be entered in each list accordingly. An example of this would be if a funeral home that could conduct both a viewing and the service in a chapel on the same premises.
